repairing fin n board in off-season

I purchased some Marine-Tex as suggested here --> http://windsurfingmag.com/features/2...the-right-way/

I had also read somewhere that marine putty could be used to repair minor dings n scrapes on the board. The thing is, these products cost total about $50 - must be that marine thing :-) Can Marine-Tex be used on the board too ?
Or is marine putty a safer alternative ??

For fins use I second glue (thin) and powder from grillcoal (black fins) or micro ballons. Wolfgang

Yes!

I use marine-tex on my old dings and/or cracks. Sand the area down so it will stick. Put thin duck tape in the areas where you don't want that stuff clinging to the board, rinse or clean with acetone, and putty away.

Be sure to take the tape off before it dries.

Then use razors to shave the clumps down, sand it to make it smooth. Spray paint over if the color is ugly.
