Hypersonic 105 V 111

Hi Roger

I'm after a Hypersonic. I had a go on a mates 105 about 3 years ago, I loved it. Wind was 8 - 10 knots and I got going quite easy with a 8.2 Ka sail (it was getting too light for 16m kites on this particular day). I had sailed long race boards alot before then, I also have sailed small wave boards for years. I could not believe how light a breeze I could get going fast. I weigh 72 kg. My question is, Was the hypersonic 105 faster/better than the 111. Is the 111 as fast as the 105 ? I didnt mind how the 105 was quite technical to sail, but I found that quite easy to sail anyway.

I have found a new HS 105 and a 111. The 105 is a few hundred $ cheaper, I'm trying to work out which one to buy.

Not sure how to answer your question here.
I liked the HS 105 alot, but I felt that for my weight (approx. 75 Kg. (175 Lbs.) the HS had a better light wind range. The bottom shape and the width were virtually identical, it was the Hyper 96 (my favorite HS and the one I still have as I think it's a classic) that was slightly narrower in the tail.
So, if the money difference is really important, go for the HS 105 (you have some experience with this board already).
If a slightly wider range (esp on the bottom end) is more important, look at the HS 111.
At 72 Kg. you really don't need larger than the 105, but I found the 111 to be a little easier to get going and it planed up a little higher so the "wings" didn't catch quite as much.

I now am thinking about the HS 96. Do you think I would be able to get it up and going in same winds as I did the HS 105 ? (wind was about 8-10 knots when I used the HS 105 a few years ago) I weigh 72 kg and have lots of experience with getting small wave boards going quite early.

I understand this kind of question is difficult for you to answer, as there are so many variables that come in to play.

Do you think with your experience, that you could get the HS 96 up and planing in similar wind strength to the HS105. ?
