are there any formula experience competitions in any part of Asia??? cause from wat i see at the web, its all in Europe, and america.....and if i travel to those countries from asia, it would be very expensive. plus formula experience is suppose to be affordable for all people, so travelling so expensive would just beat the purpose.... :/

Too bad there is none!! Forget about FE. It's going to die a natural death in a few years' time now that they changed the rules for the rig. FE could get bigger if the equipment allowed is not restricted to only one brand. But no, someone got greedy and want the whole cake to himeself.

donavan,

FE is becoming a one design class after 2010. That's why Mr. Unregistered is so angry about.
As he sayd, the equipment allowed will be restricted to one brand (starboar) exacly like RS:X (neilpryde) and T293 (Bic). The differenece is that it is real formula gear.

Most of the class sailors are exited about this change (exept Mr. Unregistered and his crew).

Here in Brazil the class is growing year after year. There was over 50 boards at the worlds last year.
I think (hope) this class will not going to die because this is the funnyest windsurfing class ever.

Why dont you start a fleet in your country?

Regards!

Hi Unregistered

You are completely wrong. The class was open since 2001 and never grow really because most of the Federation support class only when they are One Design.
It was by the way the plan in 2001 to have one design but it wasn't possible because other manufacture want to be in with their own design, so the reason why it was open.
Last FE Worlds the FE AGM and not Star-Board decide to go to One Design and this for sure will be great step forward for the Class.

All the best

You right not strong in Asia yet but hope it will start soon.

By the way if you want to come for the European Champioship we will have charter Formula Experience One Design, so don't have to pay for excess luggage with the flight Compagny who are more expensive every year on this

Let's hope that with FE One Design it will really be a great step forward and this class will grow.

Remi,

What kind of plan do you have to make this happen? At the moment, there are no more than a few countries which FE has a significant number to form a fleet. For federation (I assume you meant each country's national federation) support, it has to be a class which is also supported by the Olympic, isn't it? Do you think FE One Design is the way to go to take on RS:X?

Hi Donovan,

You`re right to say that you would spend the same money to travel to other continent competing and buying a new rig. But look how extraordinary it can be!

With the new rules approved, there will be only one rig choice and this rig won`t change on the next year.

Everybody likes to know new places, new cultures and new people, make new friends and share experiences! Think about do all of this in an well organized Windsurfing event!!! Sounds great, right?

I can`t wait to go to Asia to compete in a FEOD event. In my case, I have already ordered my One Design rig and as it won`t change on next year, I could save money to travel or invest in other toy like a slalom board, or a SUP!

At the very first moment, you`ll have to purchase your kit and spend your budget on it. So, probably you won`t attend at major events at the other side of the world. As you will take care of your equipment, it will be competitive for years and you`ll be able to save some money again to enjoy a very pleasant trip overseas in the future competing in this wonderful racing class.

But you`d like to compete at now, and you`re right again! So be in touch with the Starboard distributor in your country and start to develop the FE class there! Here in Brazil the class started at the local clubs and fleets too and now we have a national circuit with events taking place in many states whole year.

With a proactive approach it won`t take much time to happen there. We have a very positive example in Chile, where in a few months the class went from 0 to 40 boards. In 2009 they organized the first national event and this year we`ll have the continental South American Championships happening there! Too fast, isn`t it?

The FE greatest point is that the equipment is really nice not only for racing. The Formula board is wonderful in 7-30 knots and it`s not only the racing class FE that is atracting people. People take the equipment to actually sail on it and enjoy everything the Formula board/rig can offer in terms of range and performance. The competition is a natural consequence, but it`s just one gateway to the FE class.

Looking at the class` future by this point of view we can only conclude that FE has a huge growth potential. It was formatted by the sailors' demand and not by the brand supplier. It`s a big difference!

See you

30 knots? i want to see the anemometer when a formula board is being used in 30 knots.
Maybe in the UK the wind is colder or something because in 30 knots the sea state is rough and you aint sailing a formula board.

Good to know that FE is growing in Brazil. Why don't you guys get FE class as an Olympic sport? You will have home ground advantage in 2016! Only 5 years to go.
