View Full Version : Do I need another Futura? kode 86 wind range?

I weigh about 82kg and my height is about 5/11. Sail in condition from 15-30+ knots and have sail ranges from 4.7-6.1, I'm also about to get a 6.7
Just wondering what the wind range is for the Kode 86? I know they say in sail size but I was wondering what it would be in knots in flat and choppy conditions.
I also have a 2008 Futura 111 which is great and I love it!!!!!
But I feel there is a gap in my board quiver with these two boards.
What do you think, do I need another Futura in between these two?

I have a FU111 and a K86 in my board kit. I agree there would be gap in between the two. If a FU93 is the gap filler it would depend on what you would like to get out of the new in between board. If you want a freerace board then the FU93 would be the go. If you want bump and jump the K94 is another option. Or there is the Q92 for more wave riding options.
From my recent experience with the SB board range, the Flare 98 is perfect board between the K86 and FU111. The F98 is good bump and jump board, it can do freestyle of course and if the wind is bit up and down the rail thinkness and forward straps help it get planning. The best bonus with the F98 is the shape. The SB freestyle boards work so well as freeride boards. In chop they can be as fast as freerace baord as you have more control. They gybe well and are so much fun. I've tried many SB boards over the last few years in the 90 range and F98 was my biggest supprise. This is a perment board in my kit.

Thanks PrydeMan! I've decided to go for the Futura 93 for freeride blasting, I love my 111 so i think the 93 is the perfect choice for me. I can see this board becoming the new favourite.
I can use my Kode 86 for bump and jump and mucking around in the waves.
Thanks for your help.

Ended up changing my mind about 10 times, but in the end I bought a 2009 isonic 86 instead of the Futura 93. Cant wait to get it :)
