Mast Foot Position

Mast foot position is very important depending on sail size and fin size but many manufacturers seem to just stick there logos indicating mast foot position randomly on the boards.

The accepted middle position of 135cm ? is also misleading as boards have different rear profiles.

Surely the best way would be to use the fin bolt position as the measure?

With so many performance boards using Tuttle boxes this would give an exact measure but if that is so what is that distance?

Averaging out all my boards it seems to be 115cm to the first rear bolt centre making the actual sticker some 5cm out on my Exocet slalom board but centre on my Starboard 160 spot on.

What about power box & adjustable standard box? While my 2006 85 liter Exowave has 135 cm in the middle, my 72 liter AHD Power wave has 135 at the front of the box. So year to year the mast track is located in different spots.

Measured from where?

Thats the problem, very often the stickers are 5cm out, if measured from the only fixed point the fin bolt position.

Of course this varies with the boards fin box construction.
