Cape Verde is a country itself. They achieved independency in 1975

Everyone here in Mass. calls it Cape Verde. We have plenty of Cape Verdians in residence. Since there's been a large Portuguese speaking population for centuries in our port cities and surrounding countryside, it's quite natural for them to settle here.
