We have been real lucky the last few weeks at West Kirby, blessed with regular 35k to 50k winds. As usual, on proper windy days all the worlds top speedies gather here looking for new PR's.
Last Wednesday was no different, super broad 150 degrees with death chop building very soon on the course. Flat water only for 150m. Winds gusting to 50k with average winds at 40k, all on 5m to 5.5m. Martyn Ogier from Guernsey was man of the day with a peak 2 sec speed of 49.2knots on his SB W49. Looked superfast, and massive wipe out followed by a couple of cartwheels. Body armor is a must have recently at west kirby.
