Hi Juan,

Not the team, but lots of experience with the predecessor of the IS97, i.e. the IS101.
I'm 87kg.
A 6.2 sail is rather small for this board, but it will work. That's for sure.
Much depends on the water state.
I use a 6.7 as smallest sail on this board with a 34 fin.

When the water state gets choppier, I prefer to be with my 6.7 on the IS87 and a 31 fin.
When it gets even rougher, I use a 5.7 on the IS87 with a 28 fin.

Hope this helps.

I heve to try the 6,2 on the is97 !!
Probably it will be ok whenever the spot is flat following your coments
And if it gets choppy i probably will be better out on my freewave91
Thanks alot

6.2m is fine on the 97!

I got 6th in a PWA final using a 6.2m on a 107 last season! haha. So you can actually put smaller sails on these boards a lot easier than you think.

The trick is not to reduce the fin size each time you go down... ie, if you're using a 35cm with a 7m or bigger, keep that same fin when you go down to the 6.2m. The fin size relates more to the tail width of your board, so you can't just keep dropping down fins as you get smaller sails... but sounds like you've only got the 35cm anyhow?

FYI I am using a 38cm Z-fin with 7.8 and 7.0 on my 97L and then a 36cm Deb if it's windy with 7.0 and always the 36 Deb when on 6.3m.

interesting both opinions, thanks
so thats agains my previous thoughts that i have neceseraly to change down fin whith the sail !!
im fine whith tha 37 and 7 mtrs
i will try both 37 and 35 whith the 6,3
anyway the magic words is that i can use whith confidence the 97 when its 6,3 weather ( i will try to find the right fin)
its important for me to save mental barriers sometimes an mantain my quiver rational
this way i have my freewave 91 and will not buy a smaller slalom and i will change down to it when the isonic 97 whith 6,3 is not longer sailable for me
thanks juan

Slight threadjack - I'm 85 kg and have isonic 101. Have been trying an 8.4 race sail with it, to extend range. Don't want to bring extra board in the car.

I'm using 40cm fin, and it's doable but a little unbalanced.

Any tips as far mast track placement, boom height when using slightly too big sail? Over-downhauling sail seemed to help a bit in order not to drive the nose of the board down.

my question is i was feeling i will be more free whith a 39
doesn anyone knows how compares this select s12 in terms of lenght whith deboichet sl2? is like the select needs 1 cm more for the same sensation
thanks juan1

Today i was on the 97 with racing 6.2 and tectonics gw 36 fin: great in control and speed. The 97 is a lot more high wind than the older 101's were.

Ive been sailing today whith 6,3 and select s12 35 cm, yes is very god in control and quick, the sailing was smooth and controlable
I did try now 6,3 whith 35 and 7,0 whith 37 and the isonic 97 works perfect whith both
Water was flat to choppy
