Hi all,
Thinking of trying to purchase one board for my wife and I.
She is 163 cm and 52 kg learning to plane and water start. She uses a North Hero 5.3.
I am 190 cm and 98 kg, planing and water start. I have an Overdrive 9.5. We sail typically between 12 and 18 kts in flat protected sea water.
I was thinking about a Futura 131. Is this a good choice?
Tks

personally feel the board "should" work for both of you
she could use a smaller board - perhaps ...
the question is - how do you decide who gets to go ? :-)

Thanks unregistered,
We will have to toss for it But we will get her a smaller board a little later.
My concern and reason for the question is
1- is the board ok for someone my size in the above conditions
2- will the board be too performance orientated for her to progress on.
Is a difficult proposition for the moment.
Kts

Hi, I'm not an instructor, but I think it would be a mistake to get an F131. The Futura is a freerace board, it is not designed for people still learning to plane and waterstart.
You might have to bit the bullet on this one and buy a SB Go 131/141. You will struggle to get your 9.5m on the Go 131, but the Go141 will be good with the 9.5m.
Realistically, you need the F131 and your wife needs either a Go 121 or 131 depending on her level. I don't think you will be able to find one board that will double up as a learner and high performance board.
The Go is the same shape as the carve, so a Go 121 would last your wife for a while:)

the Futura is a user-friendly free-race
with a 5.3 in 12 knots of wind - the lady should be OK !!!
