1. Have you sailed 2007 NX 7.8 or 7.2? Is it better option for gusty inland lakes then Retro?
2. Is there any difference between Z-Free 460(year 2002) and Joystick 460? Have you noticed any different in rigging or sailing?

You've already answered in thread “Mast”.

Yes. I hve the 2007 NXslm 7.2 m2 and 7.8 m2.
Are they better on lakes in gusty wind conditions....?
I think that depends alot on what you want the sails to do.
The NX slm sails have 4 cams and are a bit more stable when sailed in overpowered conditions (because they are race sails, with cams)
If you are asking will the NXslm have more low end juice, that depends a great deal on how you rig the sails.
If both are on the correct mast (ummmm the Z-Free and Joystick would not be my first choice of a compatible mast for NX slm sails, but they will certainly work, and they work quite well in the Retro sails), and you rig them to the tuning mark on the sail, the Retro will have slightly better bottom end.
If you "under rig" the NX slm slightly, I think you can equal or slightly better the Retro's low end power, but then you lose some of the "slippery" top end and overpowered stability.
So, "better" is a very relative term here, and depends so much on the conditions.
Yes, the Z-Free and Joystick are currently the same mast with different branding, but I'm not completely sure that was true in 2002.
Would you like me to find out?
Hope this helps,

Let me tall you what I am looking for. I am looking for max sail for freeride 109L 61.5 cm wide (hifly free 110). Right now I have 2002 Retro7.5, all monofilm, and it is falling a part. So, I need new sail. My next sail is 2003 Retro6.0. It is in very good shape. It looks to me monofilm they used in 2003 is much better quality then 2002. Anyway, I found that Retro7.5 is a little…a little bit to big for me(165lb) on 61.5 cm wide board. Not always, but sometimes….gusty wind or …...as I said sometimes.
I have Powerex 460 Z-free and 490 100% epic, and I want to take advantage from both masts on my new sail. It is my main goal, to buy sail to much my masts.
1. Does 2007 Retro 7.0 have the same range as 2002 7.5…I mean is wind range improved in last 5 years on Retros…………..BUT I do not like 7.0 I cannot rig on 490, right ?
2. I read 2007 Severna Gator 7.5 is more suitable for narrower free ride board. Have you sailed one?
3. I was looking for Ezzy FreeRide, Retro, Gator……but it turns out Retro 7.5 is the best choice. But, WS Magazine said it has harder rotation????
Actually, my question is What would be difference between 2002 and 2007 Retro7.5??? if there is one

I searched *b forum and it looks you sailed Gator 7.5. Please, any input on 7.5 and difference between Retro and gator in 7.5.
You also said "....Hucker 6.6 low-end almost as Retro 7.5..." . What was your setup with Hucker6.6 at that time?
If Hucker 6.6 almost as Retro7.5....my problem is resolved.

Yes. I've sailed the 7.5 Severne Gator and found it very similar to the 7.5 Sailworks Retro.
They are similar designs and as such perform and tune in similar manners.
The 6.6 Sailworks Hucker is significantly different, being a more bump and jump oriented "power sail".
I don't think you'll get quite the low end power from the 6.6 Hucker that you can expect from the 7.5 m2 Retro, but they will be close.
How much low end is very dependent on mast selection and tuning.
If you are going to stay with sails no larger than 7.5 m2 what are you using the 100% carbon Epic 490 cm for?
I think you would find that the '07 7.5 Retro is not going to have quite as much low wind power as your older Retro, but a greater tuning range and better top end speed. Once again, it's all in how you tune.
Hope this helps,

490? Well, i have 2cam 9.0 and use with FF168, very light wind setup.
Today, i received Gator7.5. For 2 weeks I could not decide between Retro and Gator. All my other sails are Retros.
I took Gator for 3 reasons: smaller boom, foot is higher so more maneuverability, less weight.
Since you already put some hours on it, any recommendation for rigging , especially for low end. If i rig be specs look odd. I used zfree460
