7,4 sail on ST 104?

Hi there,

I have a ST 104 2006 edition (non-wood). I weigh circa 72 kg and my biggest sail today is a NP Excess 5,9.

Now I want to buy the biggest sail that I can comfortably use on that board and am considering a Loft Sails 7,4, with matching bigger fin (36 cm).

Would that be overdoing it? In other words: how big a sail can the board handle?

I've used an 6.8 at ~ 82 kg with the stock fin (29) and that went quite well. I think with your weight it should work if you get a larger fin (like you're considering anyway).

I use the 2007 wood with a 7.2 V8 and 36 drake slalom pro fin (which came with my isonic 125) and in moderate conditions it's great. When the wind picks up, i can handle my GTX 6.5 a lot longer with 32 cm fin.

So 7.2 is doable, 7.4 can be to big, just try before you buy if its possible!

I bit the bullet and bought myself a 7,4 Loftsails O2 with 100% rdm mast, and 36 select s ride to go with it. Considering my weight, lightness of sail handling (no cams) and good light-wind qualities of sail, I bet it will work.

I'm off to Lake Garda next week, so I'll let you know how it went.
