Difficult question........

Which of the above for use ONLY with 7.7 and 8.6 fully cammed Tushingham X15 sails on super flat water ?

iS122 or even a 111.

I often use my 115 with a 8.5 Lightning (I'm 85kg) and it works really well.

Only in very light winds do I get the 133 out.

I found the X15s I own like a bit of power rather than being a light wind sail so if this is still the case with the 8.6 then the 111 will do the job well.

122.

(Unless your spending most of your time in marginal 8.6m conditions, and even then the super flat water implies higher (than rougher , open water) board speeds for given wind range- so another plus point in favor of 122. Or even the 111 if you wanted to push it in the lighter (8.6m) conditions and be super sweet in powered 77m

Cheers ~ Ian.

PeterCee,

How do you find the larger X15s in the bottom end?

The 6.4 and 5.2 I have seem to like a little more power to get going than the Lightning but really fire up when the wind pics up. Is the same true for the 8.6?

The 8.6 is probably not as responsive at the bottom end as a Lightning - but it will take a lot of wind.

I've also got a 10.6 X-15 and this is excepionally good.

Cheers Peter. That's what I expected but it's great to get the opinion of someone who has sailed one.

I've heard good things about the 10.6 (though it's too big for my taste) but have yet to see one in the flesh.

Hi PeterCee,

With any hestation the iSonic 122, I love it with my 7,7 and 9m² with SL2 44 and 38.

When is more windy I jump on the iSonic 101 with 6,7 and SL2 34.

All the best

Thanks Remi,

I have decided to go for the iS122

Unfortunately I don't like the smaller Starboards (had a Sonic 95 once but didn't like it).

So for use with 6.4 I am looking for a Fanatic Falcon 90.

Strangely, after trying the Falcon 90 I decided on the iSonic 87. To me the iSonic was easier to control especially in chop.

Where do you sail Peter, I know of a barely used 90 up for sale.

I sail at West Kirby.

Drop me a personal message about the Falcon.

Following a day of testing out the 7.7 and 8.6 I have decided to take Ian and Phil's advice and stick with my iS115.

It will take a powered up 8.6 and with 7.7 it is perfect.

Tried a Sonic 125 but because my weight is only 82kg I found I could getthe iS115 going with 8.6 in very similar minimum wind speeds - and the iS115 does seem to point upwind remarkably well
