Evo 74 '06 vs. Evo70/75/80 2008

Hej!
Currently I have an Evo 74 which I really love. It is a pure pleasure in the conditions I sail (west coast, Sweden) and has a superb wind range. I sail the board with fully loaded 4.2 all the way to 5.7, although 4.0-5.3 is the most used sails with sweet spot at 4.5-4.7.

The 5.7 is however not really working as well as I would like for my weight (85kg) and I almost always sail the 5.7 with my freestylewave (Fanatic FW98). However I really miss the Evo when sailing the 5.7 and am rethinking my board set-up. My options as I see it are:

1. Change the E74 to the E80
Will this be a too big change? I will certainly be out on the 5.7 but will the board be too big/hectic with the 4.2 or can this be handled with a smaller fin? I have sailed the Evo 80 ´07 with a fully loaded 5.0 (thanks for test Ola!) and compared to the 74 it felt quite big but controllwise was really fine.

2. Change the E74 to the E75
The E75 2008 as I have understood feels and handles somewhat bigger than the volume indicates. Will this be a good compromise between the E74 ´06 and the E80 ´08? Will the E75 handle a 5.7 at my weight? How does the E75 feel compared to the E74?

3. Change the E74 to the E70 and E80
An expensive alternativ........but maybe the best? Or is the step 70-80 to great? How would the E70 perform at my weight?

My best solution (at 84kg's) would be to go for the 80 70 combo.
74 and 75 not really loving the 5.7.
80 loves it. \
And if you got only the 80, you'd for sure be missing either the 74 or 70 when it gets windy.
From what I've seen and heard, the 80 loves sweden too.
You only live once. get what you really want

Thanks for the reply. At my weight, what do you reckon I would be sailing the E70 with? Does it handle 5.0 comfortably?

I've seen Scotty rip on 5.0 and also bigger in various versions of the E70 over the years. The 70-80 quiver gives a healthy overlap for me, and I think it will for you too. If your sail quiver contains 5.0-5.7, 5.0 will be a perfect transition size where both boards will work great so you can choose boards depending on how much "board power" you want. That's what I do (although for me at 70kg 5.3/5.5 is the transition size).

Sailing the Evo 80, 74 and 70 at 84kg. Like Ola H I can really recommend the Evo 80 and 70 in a quiver. You will have the biggest range possible with absolute no gaps. Personally I end up using the 74 occasionally because the performance of the 80 and 70 is spot on. FYI the evo 70 is the best kept secret out there !
