I am keen to break the 30 knot barrier and am stuck on the 27/28 mark but I am still using old gear-a F2 Xantos with Ezzy Infinity 6.6,7.5 and 8.5 sails.I am a 85 kg sailer with 25 years behind me and would like a isonic to match the above sails and to break 30 kts. Also the best flatwater conditions I get are in rivers where the wind tends to be gusty and it can get very choppy as well.Any help very welcome.

Hi Squiz

I'm also 85 kg, I often sail on a river (strong currents, sharp chop), and use iS122 a lot. I use 7.3 and 9.0 sails, anything smaller and I'm on a smaller board. I've tried iS111 several times, and it could be your ideal board, with potentially higher top end and a better combo with your 6.6. But you have to consider how gusty is your spot, and how often you use your big sail. If it's full of holes (like dropping below 10-12 knots often) and you are mostly on an 8.5, iS122 could be a better choice.

PS After a Xantos (!), get ready for a big surprise. You have been warned :D :D :D

Hi Squiz,
guess that Screamer is right. You want to break your personal barrier. The iSonic 111 will be the right choice. This size has a super wide range and will work excellent with sails from 6,5 to 8,0 and carry your 8,5 without any problems. Just get a powerful fin, when the wind is on the lighter side.

Letīs go for your record,
Chris
