View Full Version : buying a second hand F158

In the process of buying a second hand Starboard F158 Formula board, I wonder if there's any way to sort out if a given F158 comes from a bad (structural weakness in the deck area causing an abnormal failure rate) or a good batch (no deck breackage to fear). Is the serial number of any help?

If you get an answer for that let me know. It would be a first. Starboard only sell first quality products.

I understand that the weak deck does not affect all the F158 that have been built : am I right?
To prevent the problem, is it possible to track back a given F158 using its serial number or is it a gamble?

No answer from Starboard Team? I understand that the 2009 slalom team may be much more of a hot topic, but I have to say that I fell kinda disappointed.

This one is easy to answer, if its had repairs already then yes its one of the bad ones. If its not needed any repairs so far, then its one one of the good ones. If its gone from 2005 to 2008 without the need for repairs, its gotta be a safe bet!!!

yep, but the F158 I'm considering got so few Time On Water that it can be seen as brand new and not having passed the trial of fire, hence my original question about serial number...
