Hy evrybody,
There's a lot of discusions about 161 vs 162. One thing I never read: what are the real diffences between them?
I mean scoop rockerline / bottomshape / V (or zero V?) from nose to tail / volumefrom nose tot tail. Of course starboard is really working these things out working on the formula 163.

Greatz, Rambo.

It`s a nice question, also Remi said that you can ask for both as new ( 2009 models). And also 160 ( but only in FE)...

Remi, in wich cases ( rider heigth, wheigth, sail maker) you reccomend 162 or 161?

Thanks,
Michel

in the row starting from 158, 159, 160 and 161 there was no big differenz in fastest surf style, adjustments and best fin.
The 162 broke that row. It needs different riding style (keep it flat and fast) and powerful fin which was never needed so strong before.
I am 90kg and 185cm and like that board more than the 161 bacause I am faster/higher/deeper than my friends. My friends use mainly the 161 but they are less tall than me.
The main point for me was exclusive training for longer time on the 162 to get the new feeling and finding the correct powerful fin.

If you are heavy, have time for deep training, have cash for a Kashy => Enjoy the F162 (-:

Hi Papounet!
Its not only Kashy fins which are working with 162. Thats to simple. You need a tipsoft (bending) and a very twist stiff (torsion) fin with a wide tip (area) and raked (+9 or app. 3,5 deg. angle at the leading edge).

What other fins are working well on the 162 apart from the very expensive, very hard to get Kashy fins?

For the 08 season I had a Hurricane 5B soft-- (630 I think), a Kashy 70 XS, a Finworks LT and a Finworks Pro (for hi-wind) in my fin quiver for the 162.

All the fins are working very good and competitively on the 162. I guess a Hurricane FRB6 would be a good choice also.

The fin I used the most were the Finworks LT and then the Kashy and Hurricane almost the same amount of time.

As Pfaffi mentioned it's definetly not just Kashy fins that is working on the 162. It's without a doubt a very good fin but you can also get excellent performance from other brands...

Best regards and a Happy New Year to all.

have an look to Hurricane Homepage:
http://www.hurricanefins.de/
as I mentioned:
soft (flex, bending), stiff in twist, more surface (area, specially in the tip) than needed with the 161 and more raked. Additional a more fat profile (9-10%) is a advantage.
