http://www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_riva_pier_windsurf.htm

these are the statistics but i hear that for July and August these don't really add up because of the thermic wind of the morning vs the thermic wind in the afternoon.
There are in the summer months 2 main winds, one early morning aronud sunrise which tends to be quite strong and is better sailed a few km south of Riva but which falls around 8-9 o' clock and then in the afternoon there is the thermic wind of 4-5 bft, sometimes 6 which most sailors take but which is rather unpredictable.

loads of places. If you wanne sail SB just look here on the website under 'destinations' on the 'CLub' part of the website. In Tarbole there are rentals every few hunderd meters. IF. you want to go cheap you'll have to google though, so many centres that it's hard to keep track.

If you're looking for the best place on the lake, choose Hotel Pier.
http://pier.webhat.it/english/index.php
This location has +/- 1Bft more wind compared to all the other places on the lake both for "Vento" (wind in the morning coming from the north) and "ORA" (wind in the afternoon, coming from the south).
Unfortunately, the owners of the hotel know about their privileged location and the prices are accordingly. Also no chance to sail there, if you're not staying in the hotel (no parking place, no access to the water, damn I hate those owners).
