Traveling w/gear on American Airlines.

Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone has experience on carrying gear on AA. I'm planning to bring a sail with me. I checked their baggage policies and looks like I'll have to pay an u$s80 fee for the domestic segment plus a u$s 100 fee for the international segment.
Are these fees something the check-in staff will apply for certain or I'll just have to pray for sheer luck and empathy? Thanks,

Ok, $80 for the oversize bag per board then $25 of your second bag policy. That will be a hit of $105 for One board. If you have two boards in that bag then add another $80.00. Sails are treated as just over size item at $80 plus your second bag policy of $25.00
