what is the difference between 2008< and 2009 X9 530cm mast ?

has NP address the highly breakage percentage ?

what is latest warranty policy now ?

planning to get a 10.7 rsr evo II and a x9 mast

saw a similar post on neilprydemaui forum, but apparently got 'censored' and deleted before any chance of reply. i guess the administrator is hiding something (perhaps ?)

any comment, especially the NP riders...

thank you

Same story as ever. I wont be relax with that mast in my sail. Specially out in the water alone.

X-man there are a lot of other options and a lot more durable (not only the mast but sail as well!!) for a price tag a lot less than NP.

I don't think it's worth spending all that money in a RSR Evo II and go with the wrong mast.

Just my 2 cents

We've been using the latest China built versions of the X9 530 in Australia for I think 5 months now with greatly improved reliability and strength in a hotter and windier than usual Summer for Sydney.

Wall thickness is quite a bit thicker (maybe 1.5mm) than on the Italian built masts which obviously helps resist mast breakage at cams, it also has the added bonus of making the masts a little stiffer and more powerful which is great. With slightly thicker masts you do have to watch for overtensioning battens and cams in sails with Ultracams as it's pretty easy to rig them with too much tension which can stress even stronger masts. Anyway, so far, so good.

Sam.

Ouch ! 1 of the prime batten is broken

with so much problems on the NP masts and possibility the sails too, why can't NP buck up their QC ?
it is because they are earning tons of $ in RSX and can afford to rest of its laurels ?

ps, *i'm no NP basher, i'm equally critical of other makes too*

One more reason not to buy Neilpryde. The bigger you get the more problems you have.

That's a hilarious comment, coming as it does on the Starboard forum. "The largest windsurfing company in the world", says so right here on this site. Guess we shouldn't buy them anymore...

So one posted a picture of a broken batten and now Neil Pryde has a batten issue with their new EVO2?

Nope, You are wrong!!. One batten broken from someone else and 5 years of me having broken masts every season and now Neilpryde has no way to get me back on thier sails and masts. Other product is up to my specs.
Thanks:eek:

Dont think its fair to knock NP sails because their (x9) masts break. (or deinitely used to)
Reckon in waves Combat is as good sail as anything. Their range contains sails which excell in each of their disciplines.
But their masts (and booms???) do leave a bit to be desired. (Pulled boom tubes out of boom head last year ; fair enough an X6 (might even have been an X3) but still not good for a new boom.

If my pick is X9 and full race gear then I need to take them out of my list. Other stuff can be use by other kind of windsurfer. Not really for me.

conclusively, X9 is for those with deep pocket$ or really hardcore NP fanactics whom don't mind even it breaks in less than 5 mins old.
any alternative mast ?

All brands have their flaws I suppose. Some more, some less. Are race sail designed to be "one season only" products for sponsored riders? Makes you wonder after having read this sad stroy.

Maybe time to change to North, they leave a 5 years guarantee on their sails.

Wow,

I just like the feeling of my Neilpryde RS Racing sails, but why so much negative news every time? I don't write bullshit about the brands you're sailing. So please.

It is just really amazing how long "old sayings" last. I don't know if some of you guys know what the NP RS:R series are ment to do, winning PWA? Break speedrecords??

X9 doesn't break when you know how to handle it, I broke more masts from other brands than X9 masts... But the RS:Slalom MKIII seems to be as fast and that sail isn't fragile as a F1 car. Works great with X6.
