Hi there, next month i will be surfing in a very flat water lake, pls if someone can let me know which could be the best fin for my board for speed sailing at 110 degrees, my weight is 70 kilos and usualy wind blows around 19/21 kts and my sail for those conditios is a Koncept 6.6 , my current fin is the Deboichet 36 cm but seems large for what i need. Any advise will be appreciated.
Thx.

Hi Remi,
Sorry for the missing detail, mine is an SL2 36cm that glides perfect for slalom but now i need one for speed match race in about 110 degrees, could be a Venom or Tectonics but don't imagine which size.

Hi Willy, Im not sure you would want to go much smaller than a 34 in the 101.
If you were going broarded than 110 degrees you could perhaps go to a 32.
Ive had good results with the C3 venoms penty of control and range.

Hi Willy,

Ok SL2 is a very good alround fin, but the SL4 give more speed and confort. In normal condition we don't go under 34 for this board but in your special case may be the 32 will be good, but I will try fore sure the 34 first.

Hope this help

All the best

Thx Vando & Remi,
I see that from very different places of the world both have same opinion so I will go for a 34, don't know yet if Deb sl4 as already have sl2 36 that is very fine or a Venom 34 that seems to be great.

You can also try from www.vectorfins.com the canefire 34. It is a great fin and has had great results with many pros also.

Thx Nonopr for your advise, (but no any friend of mine had tested any Canefire yet to have references about them), now it wil be more difficult to me to choose a fin brand as now have three to choose from! and no any local store have any of them and we here must import them from country of origin through courier, HaHa.....
But as I am in a hurry, I'll take a desition about it in a few days.

No need to test any fin:
Here is the scoop:
From the top 45 pro in the PWA Slalom circuit:
Deboichet Sl4 over 15-20 of them,
Vector Fins Canefire over 10-15 of them,
C3 Venoms over 5-10 of them.
I ride Canefire from Vector Fins, But If the Deboichet were easily available I will be using Deboichet SL4 in bigger sizes and Canfire in smaller sizes. But I have not found any difference between Vector and Deboichet via GPS reading in that board.

I'm very happy w/ my C3 Venom 36 on my 08' IS 101, NP RSS MK3 7.0 sail. I weigh 70kg. It replaced my techtonics goldwing 34.

Boogie at C3 is also quick to respond to email. They ship out very quick. It took about 6-7 working days to get to me here in San Francisco. Very good value.

I also have the venom 28, 30 for my 08' IS 86, NP RSS MK3 5.5 and 6.2

You can go 1 size bigger if you weigh 80+ kg.

Hi Dan E, many thx.
Since you have first hand info on Venom 36 in San Francisco, and as i weight the same 70 kilos as you and same board, with Koncept 6.6 , do you think that in very flat water a Venom 34 will do? And a 32 well downwind?

Willy,

If you plan on having 2 fins for your IS 101, you can try the Venom 34 first then decide if the 34 will be your light wind fin or high wind fin. After knowing so, you can either get a 36 or a 32 as your second fin. The C3 fins cost a lot less than the debs. It may still be with in your budget to order all 3 at the same time.

These fins are like 2 fins in 1. A lot of grip at low speed and slippery at high speed. They are also raked back quite a bit for better control.

I like using smaller fins. I wouldn't go smaller than a venom 36 for my IS101/ 7.0 set up.

Hi Dan E,

Yes i plan to have two exellent fins, i already have a Deb sl2 36 -similar to stock one- that is an exellent fin for light wind slalom with my weight of 70 kilos in 15/18 kts with NP 7.2 and want to get another exellent one also for 19/22 kts flat water downwind slalom racing, so as advised before by other members i think it should be a 34 cm fin, and my doudt now is which brand to buy.
