View Full Version : hypersonic 105 vs isonic 101

I was wondering if a isonic 101 with 8.5m would plane as early as a hyper 105 (with 8.5 as well). I am looking to replace my hyper...
thks! M

I don't think 8.5 on an iS101 is a good early planing combo, unless you are very light.
People who replaced hyper (including myself) mostly went for 111 or 122.

Thinking in the same direction, i'm using a 111-08 with cr 8.3 and 6.7. I'm 70kg. With the 8.3 the board is perfect. It's very good with 6.7 as well, but i feel that with a smaller board i would enjoy those perfect conditions more... It would be great to hear if anyone have used their 101 with any luck:rolleyes:
(sorry if i this is changing your thread)

I am 80KG and used the Hyper111 for 3 seasons with 8.5/6.7 & 5.8. Used fins from 55cm down to 31cm. There still ins't a board on the market that can take this large range of sails and still perform. You can get it going very early with good technique.

I now have I122/I94 to replace the Hyper. The Isonics are faster and actually point better. Having said that you now need 2 boards instead of one.

The Hyper is still a great machine, and in very light fluky winds, is still NO.1

I had the hypersonic 105lt,2003 model...the board was fast and was planning in really light wind, with a 8.5 sail....I also have the isonic 111lt,2007,08 and 2009 model...
To be honest (heavy sailor 90kg) none can go in light wind like the hyper ....BUT,in everything else the isonic is more comfortable, faster by far,speed-jibes better and especially the 2009 model is really great in choppy conditions...
Since you are only 65 kg,122 isonic will be almost like a formula board for you...:))
I would prefer the 111 or the 101 lt...For the 111,8.3 sail is a must!!!
