View Full Version : New Carve?
9th March 2010, 01:57 PM
It seems from the email that starboard sent round that they are relaunching the Carve series... From what I've understood, the Carves were super successful back in the day so this is probably a good move on Starboard's part.
Does anyone know when Starboard will release more information about this?
(It's probably being kept vague for the moment to keep us in suspense...)

I thought the kode is an evolution fom the Carve. I have still my Carve 99 from 2000. If the kode is an evolution from Carve, from what shall You design the new Carve?
The remarkable with my old Carve is the quality and if the "new Carve" will be developed, then I think itīs very important to rediscover that quality which do not exist in the new boards, I have a some of them (Acid x 2/Hypersonic/Futura) and they do not have the same quality talking about small accidents and quality of the paintings/gelcoat and "dings".

Good to hear it, that email was very enticing...

Great news! I had a 2005 Carve 94 wood. It was a big waveboard: not really fast but, jibed like hell.
Though it is a bit strange that I have not seen many request on this forum for a reissue of the Carves. On the contrary, there have been request for bringing new life in the Hypersonics.
I'm still waiting for a reissue of he Hypersonic, redeveloped. I just love the capacities of the Hypesonic: planing trough lulls, close angle to the wind and the short fin. My homespot is Horst in The netherlands. There is often no more han 50 cm waterdepth. Hypersonics carry amazingly short fins with big sails.
I still surf my 2003 Hypersonic wood (good quality indeed) because there is no other board on the market with these unique selling points. Therefore I'm willing to pay the full price for a evolutioned Hypesonic 2011.

I thought the kode is an evolution from the Carve.
I don't think so. The Kode is an evolution mix between the Acid and the Kombat, between a classic waveboard and a freewave/crossover. By contrast, the Futura is a mix between the S-Type, the Carve and the iSonic, between a supercross, a freeride and a dedicated slalom, thus giving rise to a new "freeslalom" category.
However, the Carve line has quite evolved during 9 years. In the early design, emphasis was more on freeride/freemove character whereas the late designs were more on performance freeride.
Quite curious how the new Carve will compare to large Futura and large Kode...? A pure freeride positioned between a freeslalom and a crossover ?
