I've tried the 8.3 and the 6.7. The're much better than last year, wich I didn't like that much.
The R2 has very good camber rotation, stability and speed. As a bonus, they look really great.

I tried the the 6.7 on 2007 s-type 104 wood a few times, and decided to buy the s-type afterwards.
and the 8.3 on isonic 122 wood. (me: 1.90 m, 85 kg)
I was racing in choppy conditions on a februari dag in the Netherlands, and the 8.3 slightly overpowered, don't know what windstrengt exactly. I felt very well in the hands, lots of control, stability and good speed compared to friends with 8.4 RS4 and to my own 8.4 RS Slalom.

Hi G,

I try the Code Red R2 against the RS6, not yet against the Rs Racing. This the main diffrence :
Code Red is a lot lighter in your hand. This is really exeptional for the manoeuvrability and your back.
The cam ratotation is really snooth, you don't need to kick the sail.
Both sails are really stable, but the CR is more nervous in the accelearation and the top end speed is more easy to get. Both sails are really quick, the level rider will make the difference.

Lighter racer particulary will love it, due to the extrem stability, cam rotation, very light and fast. This help also the board, a heavy sail kill the performance. For exemple the Code Red R2 9m² is really better than the RS6 9m² on a iSonic 122.

So need to test against the Rs Racing when they will arrive in Martinique. Does they are lighter than Rs6?

No idea if RSR is lighter than CR.From what NP states it's fuller in the bottom and the leech is more opend in the top.It remind me the rs5.Of course I don't know the "inside" specs so it's just an opinion.The camber rotation seems great and,till now,in Formula,they proved they're fast.
We'll see what Wojtek will make.Some Brazilian in Calema reported that his CR was fast and easy but no idea about his placement.
I'm courios to know why Severne does 11,6-11,0 and 10,0 and doesn't use a mid size like 10,,X . Same thing in the middle of 7,7 and 6,7 . It seems that lack the sail for 101!!!

I am not a Severne user, but this puzzles me too... 0.5 - 0.6 sq. mt. gaps between smaller sizes, then that big gap from 6.7 to 7.7 right in the middle of typical medium wind slalom sizes, and 0.6 - 0.7 again between the light wind slalom sizes.
I am waiting for my 6.3 and 7.0 Maui Sails. Did I decide for Severne instead, it would have been 6.1 and then what?

would you please tell us what's the wind range of 11,6 and 11,0 on the 161 ? They seem too close in size but,surely,they behave different....

Hi G,

The 11,6 is specially dedicae for real light wind condition from 6 to 12 knots while the 11 is for 9 to 20 knots. This depend also from your body weight but this is the everage for racers of 85kgs. You will have the top performances in this wind range for each sails.

here's a Belgian guy CR2 feedback.
If someone can translate (I don't know)....

zaterdag namiddag 3-3-2007 heb ik de nieuwe Formula code red's 2007 getest aan de oranjeplaat
aan de kant stond een goeie 16 kts, op het water zullen het er wel wat meer geweest zijn, dus ideaal om de 10.0 eens te proberen.
het zeil laat zich gemakkelijk optuigen, vooral de neerhaalspanning kan men zonder enige moeite aanbrengen, ook de cambers klikken er zeer gemakkelijk op.
tijdens het varen slaan de cambers ook zeer gemakkelijk over, wat een verschil is tegenover de zeilen van vorig jaar,
ik ondervond ook dat het zeil heel comfortabel vaart en gemakkelijk de windvlagen opvangt
op de gps las ik een max. speed af van 49.9km/u, wat toch zeker niet slecht is voor een formulaboard

zondag namiddag ben ik naar de punt gereden, eerst was er weinig wind, maar na de middag werd toch een 13 kts gemeten, ideaal om de 11.0 m te testen, ook hier viel direct de betere afwerking tegenover de 2006 zeilen op : betere stiksels, versterkingen, andere cambers, beschermingen aan de uiteinden van de zeillatten, ...
na een eerste rak van ongeveer een 1/2 uur gevaren te hebben ben ik naar de kant gekomen om het zeil wat aan te trekken, dan ben ik terug 1 uur gaan varen, het viel op dat de 11.0 heel licht aanvoelt en ook zeer gemakkelijk de vlagen opvangt, na een korte pauze ben ik er nog eens een 1/2 u opgegaan, waardoor ik kan zeggen dat ik toch een prachtige surfnamiddag heb gehad

(belgian guy = Jeffrey van Hoe- age 19 - I think around 70-75kg)

Short translation:
saturday 3/3/2007 first time out with my new formula code red's R2 at oranjeplaat (veerse meer holland).

Windreadings: 16 knots, but some more on the water, which was perfect for some testing with the 10.0m.
easy rigging: because of less downhaul and fast clicking cambers
on the water: very easy camberrotation (big difference with last year's code red)
gps max = 49.9km/u


Sunday (at the punt on the grevelingen, Holland)
windreadings around 13 knots
first test with the 11.0m

First big improvement against last year is the high quality: better cambers, materials,...

After 1/2 hour I came back for some more downhaul and after that I've used it for another hour and after that another 1/2 hour. The 11.0 was very light in feeling and reacted very good on all the windgusts.

I'm going to use these 2 sizes on my iSonic 111, think these are the perfect sizes on this board.

Hi G,

I am not using this board a lot, test it only during the last Star-Baord devellopment.

I ma using this folwing boards a lot :

iSonic 87, 101, 122 & 133.

But with my weight of 90 kgs, this board with that sails is between 13 to 25knots.

I agree that at your weight the 122 is better on 7,7 and then switch for 101.
I'm a bit lighter and our races allowed only a slalom board.
111 seems to me a bit allround and think I can play with fins and sails sizes.
When racing I can go big (7,8) if in the low range of the given limit for the slalom or in flat water,I can go med (7,2) if choppy or with big gusts (hope to keep the power just from the board) and go smaller (6,7) if too windy.
In a recreational mode I should use the 9,0 too.
Hope to get from the board what I search.
Today I've gone for it.
