Philip here from Inland Sea Windsurf Co on the Cape. I have a customer looking for the side fins for a go 200 (3 hole), I saw in a google search that you "might" have some?
I have an older Starboard Go (Friendship?) that is missing the side fins. It has two holes/side for mounting the fins. Is it possible that you have a replacement set of fins that you could sell?
Roger,
1st, Thank you for your visit about 8 years ago. Since you were helping us get started windsurfing we have exposed over 2400 beginning international (& domestic) sailors to Windsurfing with 12 StartBoards (and another 9 donated varieties) I need help finding a replacement part. Not too bad (wear & tear) for the rigors we've put them through.
The Fin is from one of our original boards (Blue/White Lg) I have found that the fin box style is "tuttle box". You know much more than I about these parts. I couldn't find any #s on it. (it's a Drake) I want to get TWO (1 for back-up)... Can you direct me to a source? We don't start sailing until early June.
Thanx again for your efforts to help us get started. Would love to get you & your program back someday for a refresher. B.S.
Hi Paul,
Sounds like the side fins you faound are the correct ones.
Let me know if you need the tooth washers or short screws.
The short screws are exactly the same as the regular 6 mm PT footstrap screws, but they are 23 mm long vs 28 mm long for the stock FS screws.
Regards,
Roger
Hi Roger,
thank you for the reply on the side fins. i actually found a set for the 165 last week. it was missing screws and oval washers however. if you look at the back of the side fin, it listed the boards (stamped into the plastic) it was compatible with. the fins i found work on the 03/04 150 and 165. i should have waited for you to reply but i already paid for the fins i found. thanks again,
Roger,
I stripped footstrap hole in new 2008 futura.(Yes, I used tiki tool by hand, tried to line up the screw properly, but didn't use soap:-(. Anyway, I have tried two diff. batches of permatex thrd repair. I called permatex, and found 1st batch had sat too long on the shelf based on the batch# so returned it for 2nd batch. 2nd batch turns out to be over 2 years as well, mfg'd in 2007.
Both didn't harden so would not hold. I did try a 2 part epoxy, it did go off, but would not hold much torque.
I will get a 3rd batch of permatex, hope newer! My questions so I can tell it is working are:
1. Does the prematex cure rock hard? both in the hole and on the mixing paper? (the last 2 batches did not ever harden either in the hole or on the paper I mixed it on.)
2. I have to clean the epoxy out of the hole so the hole may get a bit oversized. Will the permatex work if the hole is a bit oversized, or should I just go with a larger dia. screw &forget about the permatex?
Regards, Dave
Is there a picture of a Starboard GO 155 that shows the two fins? Will these fins allow you to tack upwind through a narrows like you can on a board with a daggerboard?
