Thanks for the info mim. Yes it is probably very few if any Norwegians in this race so if that matters it is probably a good thing. Anyway, since I have not sailed this spot yet I think I will go down there on a trip first to see how I like the place, the people etc. Hopefully they will run this event "forever" so at one point I can join it. Hey bbend, I have only one advice...be fast, send it the very first day, all in one...the certificate and pay the money...and send the confirmation via email (I guess you get it back...but not sure since I got in...). Norway is quite unusual on Defi so you do have quite some chance to succeed. Important it is to let the Defi team know, that you really are interested...there is many people wanting to go, but some of them have a special fascination...and if you prove to be one of them I think the spot will be yours. But of course there is no guarantee... Maybe I just was lucky and I wont be this year...but for sure I will try to get in again. Ciao Michal. PS: Lancellin is also great, but for europeans a bit far reach...:-( |

Hey mim Since you are a foreigner and has participated in the race earlier, it is interesting to know how you applied for the race. According to the registration form you send the medical ceritificate and transfer the fees to GWA. Then you wait and hope you get a slot in the race. Is that how it is done? Now, lets say you are not one of the lucky 1000. What happens then, do they return the money/med certificate? Or maybe you just send the registration form first and if you get a spot you send certificate/fees? |

Thanks for info. Must give it a try; going back for "winter" soon. Reckon Tromantane(Summer months) tends to blow for 3 to 4 days. Gusty on first. Blows like mad 2nd and 3rd. Moderates for really nice sailing 4th.(Generally) Having said that was down there March 08 and it blew solid for 3 weeks; averaging I`d guess 40 knots. !!! (Too much for me) Down there last March and Marin blew often aswell (Nearly opposite direction to Trom) Marin tends to be steadier and puts up good swell all along coast.(Colliore upto Le Franqui) Locals tell me if its southerly go south and if its northerly go north. Was sceptical at first but on a real iffy day(12 knots) at St Cyprien drove north to Leucate and it was a steady 30 knots. No idea why and suppose Gruisan could be even windier ???? The whole region has great sailing pretty much any time of year. Autumn and Spring seem to be most reliable and sailing down at Canet/ St Cyp/ Leucate with snow capped Canigou in background really is special. Must get upto Gruisan next spring.. |

Hey Papounet, do you actually have to go through the camping or is there another way to go...I saw that there is a kiting school on the right side of the channel but I did not realised howto get there...so I always started from Plage de Challets. Yep, the last defi I was there for two weeks and only one day there was a tramontane...on challets gusts up to 50 lnots...those pictures reminds me that. Ciao M. |

The beach is between Gruissan "plage des chalets" and Port la nouvelle Just here : http://maps.google.fr/?ie=UTF8&om=1&...,0.003449&z=18 But you have to take this way from Gruissan "village" to go : http://maps.google.fr/?ie=UTF8&om=1&...,0.003449&z=18 You dont need a 4X4 but be carrefull, off road. Or in pict :
