I have a quiver of RAMs and I really like them. They have that fast, smooth and slippery feel with great balance. Much better than my previous 07 Daytona's which always seem to rig very deeply and feel like a 'power' sail not a race sail.
Obviously the trade off between the V8 and the RAM is ...
RAM = race sail essentially
V8 = low-end power sail
I would estimate the difference in planing ability to be about 0.5 to 1 knt. The RAM would have the benefit of stability & speed & light feel.
In terms of ease of use and the light feel .... the 9.0 RAM feels comparable to about a 7.5m Daytona (not in planing ability just the physical feeling).

|blazer||I've been a faithful V8 user for several years. Always been more than satisfied with their performance and stability. Have been turned off recently with lack of durability though.|

Forget the V8, not in the same league for stability as the other 2.
8.4 Ram is a serious performer for an Isonic and solid construction.

|Unregistered||Have a Gaastra GTX and for performance I would have to say it's brilliant, however, for durability I'm not that impressed, luff pocket tears and frays easily, pity they couldn't get both right because performance is faultless!!|

Ram F8 vs. NP V8 vs. Gaastra GTX
Looking for a mid 8.5 ish camed sail for my Isonic 122. Been a faithful NP user for years, but have been disallusioned with their lack of durability in my last V8 sail. As far as looks, I really like the new North Ram F8. Anyone had a chance to ride one yet? I believe they make an 8.4m. How would the performance compare amongst the V8 & GTX? I know the durability would be better than the NP. How's the ease of rigging on the Ram?
