If you find a shop (or rider) that's willing to let you try boards, try talking them into letting you try a Kode 74 too. At your size, that might be even better. If you don't want to spend as much, you might also look for an Acid 80 2006-2008 (or 74 07/08). All good boards on flat water too and all of them will handle 5.0 easily be easier in strong wind than the wider Kombat 79. With all these boards, I think you will fins the general feel is rather similar to your Kombat. A 28cm fin seems a bit big even for freeride with your smaller sails. I think you will find that a smaller fin makes the board much easier to handle. |

Thanks for the answer. I use the Kombat with a single back strap and a Select style 28 fin. It is not easy to find a freeride fin in us-box over here. I hope I'll be able to test the Kode before buying it. I 'm very curious about the potention of this board in very strong winds on flat(!!) water. |

Are you sailing the Kombat with a single back strap and wave fin? Then I think you'll find the Kode 80 as fast. But if you use the added drive of double rear straps to help you go fast (and power a faster fin) then it will be a difficult match for the Kode 80. At your weigh tthough, I think you will overall find the Kode 80 with its narrow tail easier to use, particularly with the smaller sail. I think it will be a great partner to the Futura 101. The Kombat 79 is a very nice board too though, so no need to change just for the sake of changing. |

KODE 80 versus KOMBAT 79(2007) Hallo, I have a Kombat 79L Technora from 2007 and I want to change it for a Kode 80L Technora or wood. I use the board only in strong wind and bump and jump-conditions. I am a women and my weight is 58 à 60 kg. Is the Kode as fast as the Kombat? Or faster? I intend to use 3.5m²,4.2m² and 5m² sails on it. I loved the Kombat. Or is there a better board (Starboard)for me in those specific conditions? I have a Futura 101 wood for larger sails (6+7m²) I hope someone can give me an answer. Thank you |
