Farlo Hi Klem, you will have trouble going upwind at the beginning for sure. But as you are learning fast it should be OK in a matter of days. Make sure you have enough power in the sail to get some drive from the fin. A smaller (5mē) sail will be a good complement for your wife indeed.

mcross19 Roger is right, something like the Starboard 'Go' would have been a better choice as you two progress the carve will be a better board once you have outgrown the 'Go'

Roger Hi Klemmy,
I agree with mcross 19, the Carve 151 could work for you, but without any provision for a centerboard or center fin, you are presenting yourself with quite a challenge.
Since you are small and your wife is smaller, a smaller rig, particularly for your wife right at first, will really help her to get into the sport without a lot of strained muscles and the drama for too much sail too soon in the learning curve.
Did the boards you used during your instruction a couple of years ago have centerboards or center fins?
Learning to "rail" a large shortboard to sail/stay upwind in the beginner stages can be quite daunting.

mcross19 Hi Klemmy, the board is ok for you two but I would suggest buying a smaller rig as well something in the region of 4.5-5.0m should fit the bill

Hi, Would a 2002 Starboard Carve 151 with Neilpryde Supersonic 6,7 m2 rig be ok for me as a beginner?

Have been on an beginners course a couple of years back and have tried windsurfing a couple of times after that.
This would be for my wife and me. we are both quite small she's 155cm 55kg, I'm 168cm 74kg. We do alot of snowboarding during the winter and usually manage new sports quite fast.

I know this is probably not the ideal board for us, but as we are on a budget, I can get this combo quite cheap...

Appreciate any advice
