Severne "4 roller tack pulleys" and how to pass rope
Hello,
I have a Severne Overdrive, it has a 4 pulleys at tack. By now i used a 2 pulleys extension (and only use 3 of 4 tack pulleys), but i will use a 3 pulleys extension and i want to use all 4 pulleys at tack for easy and effortless trim. How to pass the rope to use the 4/3 pulleys set instead of older (and clasical) 3/2 pulleys set? I think i cant pass the rope one by one in order because tack pulleys are at 90 degree from extension pulleys. It can damage sail? Thanks in advance for the advice. Paco |

If you're getting a new extention then the Arrows/F2 fits very nicely, it has three rollers in the right direction. Just be careful with the extention markings as these are meant to be used with their hook/pulley, without it you should add about 1" to the markings.

RE: Severne "4 roller tack pulleys" and how to pass rope
Hello Krister,
Thanks too much. Im already have a 3 pulleys extention placed at 90 degree from sail s tack pulleys. I think.. the sail have 4pulleys at tack, there must be a way to use it... I will use the old "try and fail" method until find the way! :p Thanks Paco |

It took me ages to figure out the 3/2 you mention.
I have the arrows/f2 bases and really don't like being rigged with tack pulleys. Even when rigged like this it seems odd. http://www.gunsails.co.uk/img/05%20rigs/tack01.jpg With 4 pulleys I can see no option but to change to a different type of base with the pulleys alligned in the same aspect. I think the current extension from most of the manufacturers are useless for this type of system when the pulleys are alligned with the sail. If the pulleys were alligned 90degrees to the sail this would be much better. |
