Weed fin for formula
Hi,
What size Weed fin would suit my old Starboard Formula 186, ? I run a 9m Sailworks Retro, am 85kg and normally run a 65 upright fin. Looking at a True Ames Shallow Water Weed and trying to decide between the 44cm and the 51 I don't have a weed problem but sail in shallow water a lot. Also What size would suit a Isonic 122 with a 7.5 sail? |
This what you need:

Hi Ducati,
Mark H. has given you a good suggestion. I use the Lessacher Duo Formula weed on all boards wider than 86 cm and they really handle big sails => 9.0 at only 40 cm depth. Others you may want to look at are the True Ames Santa Barbara weed or Shallow water weed in > 50 cm. Also the Tangent Dynamics "Reaper" in 46 cm does a good job on a formula board (or any > 86 cm wide board for that matter. Hope this helps, Roger |
Hallo! The 40cm Duo weed,deep tuttle is okay.Rake 45°.Good 700cm². 100% carbon. Custommade.

weed fin for Futura131
Hello Wolfgang,
what weed fin do you recommend for a Futura131l ? Aloha, Rob |
Hi robyfaish,
What size sails do you use on your Futura 131, and what is your weight. Without the above info, I would suggest the Lessacher Duo 36 cm, but big sails or a heavy sailor could make the 40 cm preferable. If you are < 180 lbs./ 81.6 Kg, and using sails < 8.5 m2 the 36 cm will be very good. If you use smaller sails, even the 32 will work for higher winds. Hope this helps, Roger |
Sorry, I forgot longer to look here.Thank you Roger.I could give not a better answer. Wolfgang
