catapulting

I have a Worldsail T Wave 6.2 and windwing Catalyst 4.5 5.0 5.5 . When I use these sails, I often get launched when a gust hits or I get de-stabilized going over a wave . They don't seem to twist off the way my larger sails do. (Retro 7.5, 10.0 Neil Pryde Spirit 8.5) Could I soften the way these sails handle gusts by using a shorter mast with an extra long extension? Are they 'bad' sails? Is it just my poor technique. What should I be doing to prevent catapulting. My boards are a carve 99, carve 131, f-type 138. I am 6' 160 lbs.
Thanks
