reflex 3
hey there i just saw the severnesails catologe and saw tat the reflex 9.6m uses a 490 mast. so i was wondering if this sail would fit a neil pryde x6 490 mast?
|
I think the severne sails like more constant curve masts, while the NP X6 masts are definitely flex tops.
|
More likely the severne will be able to use succesfuly a MauiSails, Gasstra, Naish and also Enigma mast that they recommend.
|
oh.... that means i would need to get a new mast huh?
|
but i had a 2009 overdrive and its worked well on the x6 mast...

The sail can work but it will not be in the peak of the performance curve.
Overdrive is a freeride sail not a pure slalom machine, like the Reflex III is. |
Sailed both Reflex + Reflex II in sizes from 5.1 till 7.8. And regular discussions with many other Severne racers. And some of them even use NP masts instead of severne
I can confirm neilpryde X6 might work for you, only the sail will get more lift. This is good for bottom-end of the sail, and a bit worse for high-end. Sailing a slightly softer top makes the sail easier to handle for most riders (read: possible to sail with smaller size). Especially on flat / gusty water. I use the enigma 2011 masts which gives really big range on the sails and good balance between profile/lift/drag. Its not always the best solution the recommended mast, but still good enough to compete in any condition with enough performance. Like F1 cars and their tactics around the tires useage. If you like to change from NP to severne its not instantly needed to change masts etc. |
It's ok for me to not switch mast now... If there's a problem with it then I should change... And in the above nonopr mentioned tat a naish mast would work with the sail... Is it true?

I use this chart frequently to interchange masts betewwn sails. Great basic index
