I just ordered a Gemini!!
The shop I ordered it from is guessing it will take around 10 days to get to me. So, I doubt I'll have it for the weekend of March 23rd, but you never know.

Good thing the air temps dropped back into the 40's (from the 80's). Otherwise, I would be itching to get it on the water this weekend.

I'll have to do some creative packing I think though. My trailer can handle a 12-foot Windsurfer Classic with no problem. At 12-foot 2-inches, the Gemini might not fit in the trailer. If not, I'll probably 'customize' the trailer to make it work. For starters, I can always put it on top of my car.

RE: I just ordered a Gemini!!
Brogborough recently added a Gemini tandem to their hire fleet and I'm keen to have a go.

The first thing that strikes you about this board is it's size, it's massive. You almost expect it to have landing lights on the deck. The tail has a very odd shape looking like someone has just discovered how a router works. It comes with a massive 70cm race fin which seem very good quality.

Tony and John were the first to take it out and this was one of the funniest events on the water in some time. Sailing along in a straigh line Tony was up front and sheeting in trying to get planing while John at the rear was doing an impression of total beginner. With the two sail doing opposite jobs the board was never going to go. Tacking was hilarious to watch with both parties screaming orders at each other resulting in a total mess.

Saturday saw Phil (another one) and Mike go out. This was a totally different sight. They were planing really well and even in light winds were getting some good speeds. The sailor at the frone ends up quite a way above the water while planing. Phil was at the backand was tacking normally while Mike, upfront, was heli tacking and as a pair it was working really well.

I cannot wait to have a go.

There are some pictures of the beast sailing here.

Thanks Phil. I'll post some pics when I get it on the water. I'm hoping to pull my father out of 'retirement' and get him on the board too.

RE: I just ordered a Gemini!!

I'm the 'Phil' referred to in a previous post and thought I should pass on my experiences with the Gemini.
Set-up: There appears to be a large distance between the front track and the front set of straps and we set the deck plate at the back of the track to get comfortable - the photos in the link were taken before we moved the deck plates and you can see that Mike (on the front) doesn't look very comfortable despite having the boom at his usual height. The rear track is different and is closer to the rear set of straps. The best place we found for this deckplate was in the front 1/3 of the track.
The photos show a 7.5 on the back and 6.5 on the front.

Sailing: It's great fun! It planes pretty early but don't go for the straps until the board is planing freely as it does tend to head into wind quite easily, despite the straps being more inboard than you'd think. The rear straps (of the rear set) are in fact fixed to a cantilever behind the fin which I assume helps the manoverability.
Tacking is easy....if you've got Mike on the front who can helitack all day! Gybing is another matter that we haven't explored yet.....
Just remember to talk to each other, in between the laughter, and it's easy. Syncronised beach starting and landing looks pretty good - we haven't attempted syncronised water starts yet....

So far we've managed 26mph in pretty light winds and are looking to break 30 mph in the next few weeks.

Thanks for that info Phil. I didn't pay much attention to details when I went out. Roger and I were using 4.8's. We only got Roger's demo board up to 24.7mph. It was a blast. I knocked Roger overboard during a jibe. :0
