K86 - Fin

Hi guys.

I am the happy owner of a Kode86 from 2010 in wood carbon, which primarily is used with a no-cam sail in size 5.2 and sometimes with 4.5.
My question is which option is best if the fin must be changed from Drake Natural Wave 250 to something else and size ?
The reason is that I am experiencing problem with going up wind in freeride conditions with a lot of chop.
I weigh 80 kg and is in the advanced end of the scale.

Best Regards
CK

Hello Claus, look at http://www.select-hydrofoils.com/en/...ump-freestyle/ They recommend fins between 27 and 29cm for ~90 liters boards and 4.2 to 5.4 sails. Never tried their Bump & Jump but I use fins of that size or even bigger for hi-wind freeride (and I'm quite light). Another option is the SRX FreeSlam 28/30 which will give you a lot of grip.

I have the same board which I use with a 5.2 or 4.7 in bump and jump conditions.
My preferred fin is a Choco Starfish 22cms. Keeps the board loose, gets planing early and is fast and chuckabout.
It's a more upright fin than the one supplied with the board so maybe that helps with upwind performance.
If you wanted a bigger size fin then the same style in a 25cms should do the job but I wouldn't go any bigger unless paired with say a 6m rig.

Fin

I made excellent experience with k86 with the folloeing fins:
Mfc freewave 28 for 6.2
Mfc freewave 25 for 5.3 and 4.5 low power
Mfc wave 211 21.5 for 4.5 (well powered)

My weight 85 kg

I have k86 and k94. I've been using a fleet of natural wave fins and they great for the kodes. If the fin is set about the middle of the fin box with fin not over lapping the tail of the board I can sail up wind very easily.
