I'm 1,90m / 95kg and my quiver at the time consists of
-Naish 8'11' ('99 Freeride 105l.) and Gun Sails Booster 7,0 and
-Naish 8'5" ('99 Freewave 76l.) for 6,2 and smaller
I like to extend my range a bit to the lower/gustier wind regions and are planning to buy 1 extra board & sail.
I just bought a GPS for my last holiday & really enjoyed chasing the speedlimit so I was thinking about an iSonic 110 and a GUN Sails Mega XS 8,7
Would you recommend my planned equipment or have other suggestions?
Though not much bigger in volume as my 8'11', will the width of the 110 make it easier to get back to shore when the wind should die on me?
(especially pulling up the sail)
Would the 7,0 also fit on the 110 with my weight? (so probably in more wind than a 75kg rider)
I'm planning to surf the board mainly in quite flat water conditions for example in Makkum, Holland.

I wonder if you can pull up the Mega XS 8.7 on the 110. Those race sails get already a bit heavier.
I can pull up my Mega XS 8.8 on the old IS122 (only 114L). Not that easy but just possible and I'm 87 kg.

I am a bit ligther than you at 90 kgs and using my Reflex III 8.6 with great succes on it to get very high performances in flat water, so for your place that will be perfect.
For the volume is much better distribution despite is lower than the 121, so the board is in perfect balance.
Also is the at 99% the choice of Cyril Moussilmani at 95kgs particularly for 8.6 as his medium board for next year

isonic 107 vs 110 2013
I am also planning to buy a isonic 110 and a 7.8 slalom / race sail, which I hope can get me planning
between 12-20 knots. Above that I am thinking of using my 5.3 , 4.7 , 4.2 and FSW 85 board.
I weight between 80-85 kg. Sail on both lakes and open sea.
Have been thinking of getting formula and even get over to the dark side :-), kiting.
But formula, have been trying it a couple of times. I don't know, not convinced!
Kiting has its advantages, big draw back for me is sailing on lakes with gusty winds and a lot of trees&rocks instead of beaches. Besides that, I am still a windsurfer :-).
But I have about the same questions:
Is this a good idea or will the 107 be a better choice? Or should I use a different sail size.
Will 110 be good in a bit upwind racing as well?
How quick will you be able to go max on these boards (107&110)? 30-35knots?
The idea is to have one sail and one board if possible.
I have the 107 and love it. However I have smaller and larger boards as well. If I was just going for 1 board and 1 sail then the 110/7.8 sounds pretty good.
I agree with OZI, for one board only, I guess the iS110 will be hard to beat. I really like the looks of the new iS110 and would love to get one, but I worry that if I had a iS110, I wont use my iS137 as much.

Replace the IS137 and F161 by the US147. ;)
Ha, I had been thinking about doing that for ages. US147 and iS117W, But now I think maybe the US147 and iS110 would be good.
Only problem is I really really really like my iS137 in 12k to 20k winds with the 8.6/9.5, and my new fins have made it even better.
I love my iS107 as well, but the iS137 gets much more use, so maybe just one board in middle would be better value for me. Once we have a solid 20k, I tend to go straight to a W58/8.6m which might be why my iS107 does not get a lot of use!

I don't know how steady you have the wind over there in West Kirby in 12k conditions, but where I surf 12k conditions also often mean a lot of lulls in which the US147 happens to excell. It probably depends on the wind direction.
The introduction of the US147 would also imply a higher usage of the IS110 of course.
