137 or 127 isonic?
Sails 9.6 snd 8.6
Wind 8-20 knots
Rider 96 kilos, pretty experianced
Next board 110 isonic (I know I can use it with 8.6 powered up)
Shall I buy a 137 or a 127 as my big board for slalom competion?
Any opinion is much appreciated....

I reckon you are near border line on weight, but I would go for the IS 127 for the better overall range... I know a few national slalom sailors at your weight using the IS 127 to good effect even in the minimum wind strength......

guess so, NWF is right. Both boards are suitable for light wind racing in your weight category. You will use the 9,6 with the 127 and it's the ideal light wind set. And you will use the 110 with the 8,6. You will have two perfect sets. Now you can start to play with the fins on the big one. Two fins for the 127. On the 110 you will have a lot of fun with a 7,8, too.

Good luck,

love my 137 (2013) up to 28knts with Refl 9.2 :-))
no need for 127 in your weight.
never forget, the PWA guys go only downwind and never in real light winds, if Björn&Co are not planing, no race.....

I got the 127 and 9.3, its a really fast kit, just wish i was stronger and heavier! At 85kg I max out at 18-20knots, its still very controllable and flying at 29knots, but i´m not brave or strong enough to sail it. Don´t think you need the 137 unless you are above 105kg

i too am a heavyweight at 98 kilos
my sails are MauiSails TR race 10-oh and 8.4 that i would use with such a board
so, you guys are saying a 127 iSonic would work for me ??
and even up to 25 knots = wow

what about light winds - minimum planing - without too much pumping ???
ie what do you mean by light wind setup - start at 12 knots or ??

thanx in advance

Most if not all of the PWA SB sailors who are above 100kgs are using the IS 127, there is obviously I good reason for that e.g they get a good range from their equipment, for me that would be a good enough endorsement for me..

QUick Question,

Would an IS 127 with a 8.6 vapor or 9.0 mauai sails Titan combination be good for a 72kg weighing surfer as a light wind solution instead of going for an Ultrasonic.
I guess the is would give me a bit more usage and would I feel the difference in planning? My next board is a FU111 that is ride with vapor's 6.7 and 7.6
