Gemini mark II slightly damaged
Our windsurf club has bought a Gemini mark II Board (tandem) but one of our member has damaged it while storing it after a session.
Now the board has a small hole on the 'navigation' side.
Since I'm really not an expert, I would like to have informations about the material/technology used for this board.
There is a company nearby our association that is specialized in composite/polyester material. I think they should be able to repair our board but having details in advance about material is probably helpfull isn't it?
I thank you very much for your help.
I cannot answer your question directly as I am unfamiliar with the material "Armour Tech" that is what the outer
skin of your Gemini Mk II is made from.
I have asked the design team @ Starboard Headquarters to give us an answer as to the best materials to use
to repair the "Armour Tech" technology material.
Unfortunately the Armour Tech is not covered in our Products/Product Assistance/Repairs section so hopefully
we can update that as well.
I thank you for your effort. Hopefully I could get some precious info.
OK, I got the answer to your repair technique question from the Boss @ Starboard HQ (Svein himself).
The Armour Tech skin is an epoxy resin based material and should be repaired with
epoxy resins only.
Sorry to hear about the hole/ding in the bottom of your Gemini.
Hopefully with this information you can have it repaired good as new and back on the
Please don't use Polyester this material will destroy your board.
All the Starboard boards are built in Epoxy what ever Technology is from Amour Tech to Carbon.
Just use fiber Glass with Epoxy resin and will be ok. But you can use Polyester putty for the finishing.
All the best
