Lancelin Classic 2014 & Isonic 117
Hi Team, it seems the isonic 117 was very a very popular board choice for the recent Lancelin classic marathon race but all I read on here is people choosing the 110 over the 117 as their mid sized board. Can you tell me what size sails the guys were using on these boards and why they chose the 117 over the 110?

Volwater on starboard?

I think you may find that they are not replacing their IS 110 with IS 117 as their mid sized board, but instead using IS 117's as their largest board.

Same as what Allan said. I think there is a lot of confusion between the iS110 and iS117 as (on paper) they appear very similar.

Unless your very light weight, the iS110 is for medium conditions, and the iS117 is pure light winds despite only having 120 litres.

I'm guessing that this years event had a mixture of wind strengths because the top 5 used iS107 (Peter V's no light weight) through to the big iS130?

Hi Mark H,

The 110 is design for light wind conditions for light racers as bigger board for PWA, but some Cyril last year was using it as a medium board due to the fact the 107 didn't have yet the new concept as for 2014. But also Steve 85 and Taty 80 was on 110 and the season was very light and still perform but sure on the 117 they will be better for this year.
But sure this 110 as one board 2 sails 7.8 and 8.6 is a machine for anyone in moderate chop.
All the best
