foot straps
I have a new 2005 101 carve and I find the footstraps that came with it are too small and awkward as I have big feet and use booties for winter sailing. What footstraps would you suggest using and is it possible to use a single aft strap on this board? Thanks, John

Large foot straps: try using DaKine Primo, or maybe some other strap from the DaKine range. I have good experiences setting them big.
Center strap: just mount the back strap across the centerline, naturally using the holes that are closest to center. It looks strange, but actually works very well. On the water you will hardly notice any difference to a "proper" center strap! |
re foot straps
Thanks for the info and prompt reply.
Will do as you suggest. Merry Christmas. John |
When you say the straps are too small, do you mean too NARROW so they pinch the feet? This has come up before with these boards. Using the same footstraps, I've gone one screw hole wider when setting the footstraps. I've done this for my 2 starboards with excellent results.

Re: footstraps the DaKine brand is generally accepted as ****, they have several options including the newer X-Lace version, which provide a external adjustment system, a little loop is exposed and adjustments are simple, been out a year, dont know about durability vs the elements, like sand. Would be a serious option for you esp with booties. The rest of the DaKine take a look at online- the Contours are v.good. Other footstraps of note MFC , and HotSails Maui, both ****. |
Arch was not high enough. Did some pin adjusting on a set of North straps that I already had and things look OK now. Thanks for the reply
