Combat 105 2008 Freestyle & strongwind abilitiess

Hi Starboard Team

I was a bit quick by posting my first thead in the free forum. But i would also like to know your opinion, as i'm looking to buy a Kombat 105 2008.

I learnd in this forum that the Kombat 105 2008 has great early planing and wave abilities with the right footstrap and fin set up.

But i'm still wondering about two things:

1. what are the freestyle abilites? Is it also suited to learn how to spok or to back loop off a wavelipp? As it's with is 66cm.

2. and how does it behave on days with strong winds? I met a guy the other day on a Kombat 122 2008 and he said he still could handle nicely winds with 7 Bf. Are there also some setup tricks how to handle this kinde of wind?

Would be great to get some feedback - cheers

I'm not much of a freestyler myself, but I think the Kombats have quite good pop to them. Of course a dedicated freestyle board liek the Flare would be even beter, but such a board will not be as versatile as the Kombats. Loops and stuff is great with the Kombat.

How you tune it for high wind is a bit dependent on you sailing style. But usually you want to go for a smaller fin. How small depends on sail size, water state and your weight. Except for the fin, I use the same trim as I normal do also when I sail my Kombats in high wind.
