Evil twin 74 from Evo 74?

Hi, I was wondering if I could comfortably trade a Evo 74 for an Evil Twin 74 as far as wind range, planing, etc is concerned. Or is the ET80 the way to go? I'm 195 and efficient at making a small board work. Cheers!

I only used the ET 74 myself and I'm also lighter. Lets see if Scotty comes in.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can comfortable trade up.
There's no significant sacrifice I would say.
They're both sick boards. 74 and 80. The 80 has a lot of float but doesn't feel like a big board.195. What's that about 90kg's?

Hi
I reckon if you are going for one board the 80 is best choice, as Scotty says it has the float but still feels small on the wave. I used the 80 with 4.5m in logo high yesterday and it felt awesome. Generally it seems you can ride a bigger board with the twin fins

Well I'm in the same decision making and I don't have the luxury of a demo...

I'm 82kg and I like my E74 I feel like it got a perfect wind range and enough float for slogging and get out of trouble in the impact zone.

The question is the same E74 to ET74 or ET80, is there any speed difference I don't mind have a bit more volume but I do windsurf quite a lot to in full 4.0-4.2 cross onshore, also the waves in our local spot is slowish. Wind is normal gusty with slogging through beach break than out in the back it's full on.

Thanks Scotty and Timo.

I'm 90 kgs. I've ridden the 2005 Evo 74 in sideshore waves, Gorge swell etc and love it's alround abilities. I have 95 FSW wave board and 110 freestyle board, so the E74 is my 5.0 and windier board. Is the ET 74 or 80 too wave focused for all around sailing or can I make it work as well as the 2005 E74 for everything? I remember reports saying that the Evo74 was poor for anything outside of real wavesailing, but I've been hard pressed to ride anything more fun, loose and skatey in all conditions. The idea of more of a good thing interests me with the ETs, but if it comes at a cost of all round ability, maybe not. Does the ET 80 get blown around much in the air in 4.2-4.7 wind?

Hi
Sorry for delay in reply...
If you are using ET in mostly Gorge swell then i'd say go the new Evo, the ET may be a less grippy in these sort of conditions where directional stability and keeping the board in the water is more important!
Obviously the ET80 will be less controllable tha ET74 in stronger winds but its still fine for 90kgs (my weight)
It sounds to be that you are gagging on getting a new toy!!!
I'd say get an ET80, remotivates you and lets you try something new, the ET80 feels just like an Evo really just you can really tighten up your turn and get more vert and bust the fins out easier!
Jumping is fine just like the Evos!
The decision is yours!!!
Hope i've helped
Timo

In a three board quiver, it would be best to go for the small board, since you sail the gorge.......
