IS 122 vs IS 133
Hi Kev,
Did you decided wich board quiver will you use at the PWA season ? I had until last month an IS86/111/133 quiver (2009) for local racing but now I´m switching to IS86/IS101/IS122. The reason is that for my weight (87 Kg) I found a noticeable range gap between IS86 and IS111 (enough for recreational sailing but not for racing). The 86/101 seems to work perfectly But as regards the IS 133 /122 dilemma I don´t have yet a final decision. After 6 months on the 133 now I´m sailing on the 122 and I found the following : Rigged with my new 8.8 Code Red both boards seems to start plannig on the same wind. The 133 have a little advantage crossing lulls, but only on marginal wind. Well powered the 122 have a subtle speed advantage over the 133. On overpowered conditions the 122 is by far more controlable than the 133 Things are clear while gybing, the 122 is a lot more sweet. I guess that for a heavier guy 95+ kg the choice is 133, but I´m not sure for my weight. I am reading on your blog that you are dealing with the same question, do you have any decision at this time ? Regards Carlos |
I am still working on this decision. I am leaning towards the 133 but I still dont know. It seems better out of the gybes but I need to test some more. It is a pretty big decision.
