Max sail size on a 2005 Acid 80
Hi guys
I have always thought of about 5.4m as the biggest I would want to use with my waveboard (giving a 5.4, 4.7 and 4.0 quiver), but this is based on 'older' sails. I wondered if with the latest rigs this would strech up to say 5.8? (so making a good quiver of 5.8, 5.0 and 4.2). I am thinking of splashing out some cash on sails and want to get it right... I weight about 88kg and sail in the occasionally good waves of Cornwall, UK. Usually stick with a 21cm or 22cm fin. Many thanks for any advice Martin |

HI Martin,
I'm 85 kg. Use regularly a 5.8 MauiSails Global on an Acid 80. Just stick a larger fin, 23-24, in it. |

Like Ray says, it can be done. Wether it will much more efficient (for early and easy planing)than using a 5.4 will depend on a lot of things, but you will probably at least get a bit more bottom end punch.

Hi Martin,
use a 5.7 as th ebiggest on my 80 liter waveboards. It??s working quite nice. Just take care to find super light components (mast, extension and boom) and a well balanced sailed and like RAy recommended a bit bigger fin. The biggest wavesails, which are used in PWA waveevents are around 6.2 m??. All the best, Chris |

Thanks Chris - of course the wind will vanish as soon as I buy anything...
