Isonic 94/111 2010 real volume?
I would like to check real volume figures before I place an order for 2010 isonics...
So, what are the real (ISAF measurement) volumes of is94 and is111? What is the recommended sl4 fin for is111 (7.6/6.7) and is94 (6.7/5.5)? If I am not wrong, they are printed on the tail of the board? Thanks! Marko |

Remi, thanks for you quick reply!
I would like to get is94 in wood (for more control) and is111 in woodcarbon (for more lowend performance). Is it a good choice? is94 will be used in very wild choppy/gusty conditions mostly with 5.5. is111 will be used in everything else, with 6.7/7.6/8.4. I am using is122 2008 at the moment and my biggest sail is 8.2. Do you think that I will loose a lot in lowend if I go for is111 woodcarbon, or this new boards have more lowend performance then older isonics??? My weight is 84kg and 8.4 is biggest sail. Thanks once again! |
I hope Remi is correct with the volumes of the new boards. It would be nice to see an "official statement" from Starboard regarding their published volumes and that they aren't using "virtual volumes" any more. I have an '08 iS 111 and Starboard said on this forum that the volume was 108L (the old virtual volume days).
It seems to me that the fin sizes listed are for "down wind slalom racing". Generally they are on the small side for figure 8 racing or free sailing. |
Had my first session on the new IS94 wood today:).
I used a C3 venom 36 and found it was a perfect size for my 6.8. Ive also got my new IS121 in Carbon but hasn't touched the water yet:D hope to post something soon |
Vando, how do you like is94 2010? Please, let us know!
Cheers Marko |
Hi Marko,
In this condition, with your sails and your weight I recommand you the iSonic 86 for the 5,5 For 5,5 the best board is the iSonic 86 and for the iSonic 94 is the 6,2 Hope this help All the best |
Hi Ken,
I am taking care personally of all the specs, so this list is the Official one. This fins choice come from the PWA Star-Board Dream Team and of course is for slalom down wind. Now you can choose what you want but I think this will help you a lot to make your choice. All the best |

Hi Marco didnt have much time on the water by the time i unpacked them and put the straps on it was getting on dark, Initial thoughts that the IS94 felt looser in the tail compared to my Older IS86. It felt very quick across the chop and i did notice it hoped on the plane pretty quick. We should get some more wind Fri so hope to get both boards back on the water.
