bought isonic 76 today, 2008 i think.
used today for first time, winds 15/25 knots with 5.0m vapor+lots downhaul.
cost $1200 2nd hand, hardly used.
tried with 28cm carbon fin ,was overpowered in occasional gust.front foot was coming out of strap a little. switched to 25cm fin, much smoother ride solved the problem too.
board is a gem.
good bottomend, extremely fast topend + very smooth ride.
sits a good bit lower in water than f2 sx 80litres, but feels faster.
only problem my favourite 25cm fin feels a bit small, unless 18+ knots.
a great board for lightweights in 15/25.
in stronger i prefer a even smaller board.
if you get the chance buy one.
when you say your front strap was coming out of the strap, wouldn't you be pushing into the strap over powered?
and possibly pulling up on the back strap to avoid catapulting??
the larger fin [28cm] in stronger wind was causing me to lose control, this may have caused my front foot to feel like it was about to come out.
have used i76 since around 15/20 with 28 fin.the i76 for my 67kg is more of a med/high board i think. when i use i76 with 25 fin the board slides laterally unless my 5.0m is rigged flat + wind is strong.
in 15/20 with 5.0m + 28 fin the board felt superfast, although did not test it against anyone. it sails quite low and very easy to sail. it stays on track, it sails by itself.
it weighs around 6kg a bit heavier than some carbon boards.it does feel a little heavier than f2 sx 80litres.probably stronger.
i am going to re/position front straps and try and find optimal position.
will post again when i test it against my mate greg, and let u know.
Take a look at this, might be usefull??
interesting, the length people will go to sail faster. of course that would not be me i dont think.
i am unable to move straps at moment as need very large headed philips screwdriver, as they are over tight.
i do take your point, having front foot coming loose is recipe for going alot slower than potential.
had other problem as well backfoot not coming out as about to initiate gybe, thats even slower.
no doubt slowboat chris L will be onto this idea soon.
i can beat him when he is not allowed in front straps, i think.
