Will ncx 2009 work with red line mast?
Hi
I bought a ncx 8.0 2009 model with the "ideal mast" blue line(75% carbon) I would like to upgrade my kit. Will this sail work even better with red line 2010 mast? Or does it not work(it wasnt recommended in 2009 for this sail-why?) Thanks for any answers! |
It would work great with your sail. Basically you are doing an upgrade on your Blue line mast(75% Carbon) to a 100% carbon same characteristics and even faster response to gusts. The NCX sails is a pure bread of none cam sails. I will go for it for sure.
Here is the link to gide you in your buy. http://2009.severnesails.com/2009/products/sv_mast.php http://2009.severnesails.com/2009/products/sail_ncx.php |
There is one selling on eBay right now if you live in the USA even free shipping. This is a great find for you.

Why on earth wasnt red line the recommended mast for this sail in 2009 then?
|
you got to be kidding me......
The NCX was design for an all round scenario. having a 75% mast recommended makes it affordable and easy to sell in mass. This sail was design for speed nd you can go ahead and buy the mast you want but a 100% mast will make this sail a better sail. if you don't want my recommendation then you can do whatever you want. thanks |
.
ROI=return on investment my new question on w/s stuff is: do i need it ? nonopr1 says better in gusts do you need better response in gusts with your 8.0? with my skills i have added the question - will i know the difference stiffer booms on 8+ and i felt the difference - enjoyed the ride too so, for your $$, you have a recommended boom and 75% is good too have you tried a stiffer boom ? |

You do whatever you want.
But in light wind or with a 8.0 I rather have the best mast and that is it. If you buy a ferrari and you put the wheels of a bicycle you casr is going to be fater? I rather have my ferrari wih Pirellis and 20 inch rims??? |
.
the 75% mast is NOT like bicycle wheels it is the recommended mast and should work fine the investment has been made buy a 100% mast and then try and sell the 75 % ? lose some $$$ in this sport - not every-one has the chance to try stuff - otherwise try the 100% !!! if the mast is okay - why change it up ?? to show off those perrillis and handle some gusts better ?? are you saying over a certain sail size - one should only use 100 % ??? |
I am not saying to buy a new mast becasue the one he has is not the correct one. It is the recommended. But you can always go better. Actually what I am saying if he want to buy a 100% carbon mast is a great investment and will do a lot of good to that sail.
Thanks over and out. |
