Choice between Futura 93 or Kode 94
 

I believe that I own too many boards and want to reduce my quiver to 3.
The largest board that I have is a Futura 122 which I intend to keep. The two middle boards are S-Type 104 and 90L F2-Max2Air. The smallest one I have is 75L Exocet wave. My type of riding is generally free riding choppy waters but not much experience with wave riding. Also I enjoy occasional jump here and there but far from looping.
My plan is to sell the two mid boards and get the replacement in the size around 90+ which should fit well between 122 and 75. Based on my research, I found that Ftura 93 and Kode 94 are very close boards and I am not decided which one would suit me better.
I would appreciate any feedback with helpful hints.

I had my first go on my Futura 93l and it was incredible. Going from my AHD -> JP SuperX was already a big improvement but going from the SuperX -> Futura was just insane. The thing jibes by itself, it's retarded. It doesn't bounce out or demand good technique. It also rides super high on the water and it feels like you're flying. Turns super well too, responds so much better to footsteering than the JP.

If you're not going to get into waves, go for the Futura.

(Haven't jumped mine yet, the conditions weren't good today but the guy I bought it from said it was really good at jumping)

Difficult one as I own both boards myself............... If you want a more manoeuvrable looser board for waves then go for the kode. However, I did say it was a difficult one as I have used my futura in some light wind wave conditions to great success........ My next board down is a EVO 75. Next board up is Isonic 111, but also have a Futura 122.

Thank you "agrelon" and Allan for you valuable input. After reading about your experiences and also experience by former owner of "agrelon's" F93 I am more inclined toward F93 rather than K94. Besides, the F93 fin box is Tuttle and I will have couple of True Aims weed fins from my S-Type 104 that would fit this box after I sell this board. With K94 I would have to shop for the new fins.
Manuvribility is not really that important to me as I do not intend to do free style tricks or true wave sailing.
I think that the Futura 93 it is. I will buy it as soon as I sell my S-Type 104 which should be not a problem as it is in immaculate shape.
Allan, since you have F93 between the 122 and 75 (same as mine F122 and Exocet 75) , would you say that the choice of the size of 93L board is right?

I know surfers who have the futura 122 and the futura 93, but they find the gap between those two too big. Sot think about this before changing your quiver.
If I were you, I'd keep a three board quiver, for instance a F122, F101, small wave/ freestyle board
BTW, why not get rid of the F2max air, and keep the F122+stype104+75liter... it's also a three board quiver and not a bad one at all

kvda, thank you for your feedback. I am actually surprised that some of the windsurfers experience the recommended by Starboard manufacturer sail size not comfortable.
My reasoning was as per below info but I think I should reconsider based on your input. For F122 I use 6.5 and 8.0 Sailworks Retro where the spec is 5.5 to 9.0. For F93 I intend to use 5.2 and 5.8 Sailworks Revo while the spec calls for 4.0 to 6.5. I thought that it would be well within the range of this board. The 101 spec calls for 4.7 to 7.5 which I believed it would be more overlap in the high range than needed and no overlap for my 75L. I read about opinions that the F93 sails comfortably with 7.0 so I would expect that 5.8 should be plenty good.
My 75L takes 3.7, 4.2 and 4.6 while 5.2 already feels too big for it.
Based on the above, my reasoning was if I go with 93L, I should be OK with the gap between 122 and also 5.2 sail should feel perfectly for it.

I weigh 175#s have the Futura 93 and 133. For the 93 I have used 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 & 6.5 sails. With the 133 I use 6.5, 7.6 & 8.5. I have a 9.8 but that is saved for formula sailing. For me the 93 works great with the 5.0 & 5.5. It is also ok with the 6.5, not a problem at all. With the 4.5 the board felt a little on edge so no way would I use a 4.0 with the 93. I span the 93 and 133 quite easily with the 6.5 overlap. If the 6.5 conditions is flat water I use the 133, if the 6.5 is rougher water because of tides I use the 93.

I don’t see why you couldn’t span a 93 & 122.

I think I will go with the 93L after all. I weight 165LBS (75Kg) so based on your information I should be OK with this size.

Apparently, though I haven't tried it yet with anything other than my 5.8m, this board can work all the way up to 7.0 well. There was an older post about this where 2 team members tested the F93 with 7.0m sails and 38cm fins. So If you're planning to use 6.5m on it it should be perfect, and I think this should also work quite well with the 122: so the overlap seems to be just right to me.

I, sadly, have to put my Futura (which I got 2 days ago) away from the beach for the next month until I pass my final exams. It's going to be a tough month.

Thanks again Agrelon for reinforcing my decision. I have no intention to sail it with anything bigger than 5.8.
