How to repair the plastic outer skin of the Tufskin build ?

Hi all
On my Hybrid formula, I had a very small dent but some water had leaked in and I had to cut out about 5*10cm of plastic area.
The board dried now, the glass surface is quite neat (no repair needed) but wat should I do for the surface ?
Will white gel coat do the trick ? (I see on the website that it is a thickness of 4mm that I have to replace). Or should I better put some more epoxy + fiber glass, sand it down and paint it ?
But I wonder how it's gonna mix with the contiguous plastic skin in the end.
Thanks in advance and happy new year every one, wishing you all steady winds ;-)

Hi, Arno

I think that both of the thinngs you mentioned will do good, but don't put on too much because from what i've seen its 0.4 mm not 4 mm of the plastic that you have to replace. If I would be doinng it I would put fiberglas and epoxi on... If you put on the right color i dont think that there will be any trouble vith the plastics.

I would have told you more if i knew the right words...

A windy new year to you too.

Ooops, 0.4 mm, you're right ! I made the mistake because it seems thicker than that.
Dealing with the color isn't so much of an issue as the original board is white. But it's true too that this no longer applies to the bottom and (thick) rails of the board : after one year of use, it's all tending to get yellow, except for where the tiki logo is. Despite permanent storage in a closed trail (ie sun exposure occured only during the 30-like sessions the board has).
If others know how to mix the plastic skin with other materials, thanks for sharing your views as Lampi kindly did.
Cheers

Hi Arnaud,

I would recommend checking out the BoardLady's repair website below.

http://www.boardlady.com/index.htm

She's a true pro at repairs, and she's done a great job of illustrating the different process steps to many kinds of repair problems. I think that you will agree that its a valuable bookmark to keep handy and reference in the future.

Hi again, Arno

What you can do tho remove the yellowness: get some water sanding paper with a mark 1000 on it (so its very smooth) and then sand the whole bottom with it, pooring water on the board and then sand the wetted surface until it gets white. Don't sand it in circles, only forward and back, don't sand the sticker and remember to use a lot of water because it's important that the surface is wett. Do leave some color on though...:D

I hope that you know what i was talking about...

There is no need to sand the board, just apply fresh lime juice and let it do its magic for about 10 minutes, then rinse of...
