iSonic 3 board quiver

I am planning on buying some new boards and I think it will be the new iSonic 2011. I am having the following sails...
6.2 - 7.0 - 7.8 - 8.6 and maybe a 9.6 in the future.
Which board quiver would be best? I am thinking of
127 - 8.6 maybe 9.6
107 - 8.6/7.8/7.0
87 - 7.0/6.2
117 Wide - 8.6 maybe 9.6
107 - 8.6/7.8/7.0
87 - 7.0/6.2
I am leaning more the first range because I think it fits better... What is you're opinion?
I wouldn't go for any of those combinations, also would never consider 9.6, unless you're well over 100kg's...
107 - 8.6/7.8
90 - 7.8/7.0/6.2
These 2 sizes are the most versatile.
I am 80kg.... I am considering the 9.6 as a replacement for formula but am not sure yet...
That's also why I am considering a 127. With only the 107 I think I will have gap in low wind....
I am also wondering why the 117 Wide is so special!??Is it just filling the gap between 117 en 127? Or is the board conceptually very different than the 117 and 127? maybe somebody from the starboard team can comment?
After taking a look at the range. I will go 87, 107 and 117 Wide.
I have 80 kilos.
The tricky part will be the fins.
Why this range and not the 127???
The 127 now is like the 131 last year and I did not need a board that big for Slalom racing now that there is a 117wide with 80cm wide I rather replace the 131 with it. It hold the biggest sail I will use and it is lighter, less volume with almost same water displacement for early speed. 127 is just too big for me and it gets over power very easy.
Here are the boards I'd pick.
IS 147 - 8.6 to 10.8 sq. m.
IS 107 - 6.5 to 8.6 sq. m.
IS 87 - 4.8 to 6.5 sq. m.
What a fun quiver that would be and it would cover just about all sailable wind ranges.
I am about your weight (mine fluctuates between 78 and 80 kgs), and I would agree with Maximus. By trial and error, I came to the conclusion that if you do not do slalom racing in light winds, you do not need any board between a Formula and a 107. I used to have an iS 133, then I bought a Formula and an iS 122, and then an iS 111 woodcarb, and I sold the 122 because I was no longer using it. I use my Formula with TR-6 10.0 and 8.4, and if I'm on the 8.4 and the Formula and the wind picks up too much, I keep the 8.4 and go down to the 111; that board carries the 8.4 very well.
I have a friend who is a few kgs heavier than I, he is on different boards brands, but he has also reached the same conclusion, and has no board between his Starboard Formula and his Falcon 112.
My advice: keep the Formula (there's nothing like one in light winds), get the 107, and then work down from there, depending on how much wind you get on your spots. There's a BIG difference between a 111 and a 101, so I assume it would be the same between 107 and 97. If you keep the Formula and buy 3 boards, go 107, 97, 87. If you are limited by space and cannot store more than 3 boards, keep the Formula, and like Maximus advises, go for the 107 and the 90.
Formula: 9.6 and 8.6
107: 8.6, 7.8 and 7.0
97: 7.8 and 7.0
87: 7.0 and 6.2
90: 7.0 and 6.2
I am doing slalom races in light winds and the 107 is not the boards for that. You need something wider that carries a bigger sail easier in light winds. That's why I am doubting between a 127 and 117Wide. Since the 107 is pretty versatile and the 8.6 seems to be the best match for 127 I think I will have less overlap with these. However the 117Wide is new so I am not sure what it will do.
I am curently sailing a iSonic 133 and find it easy to sail even in stronger winds. It runs pretty high on the water but it does not 'fly' out of control easily. I have no control problems with it....
@ThierryP If you are using the formula with 10.0 and 8.6 only you are not getting the max out of it. Formula boards are made for upwind and downwind and to do that properly they need 11.0 or 12.0. 10.0 is used in 25kts and higher.... I think you would be better of with a big slalom board that carries a 10.0....
