Which size Futura

Hi everyone,

I have a Futura 133 wood (2010) and very happy with it. I also have a Kode 94 technora (2010)
Most of the time I am surfing on the ijselmeer. Hugh lake in Holland.
My weight is 97 kg. and my lenght is 1,95 m.
When the wind is rising also the waves are (between 0.5 and 1m) and that is when my problem starts. The kode is not big enough for me to get going and my futura starts being lift out of the water. I have 3 sails for the futura (RAM F10 9,0 , S-type 7,8 and duke 6,4) and 3 sails for the Kode (Ice 4,7 5,3 and 5,7)
I use a C3 venom 44
My question is sould I go for an extra board (futura 111 or 101) or can I do something else?

I hope I get some response on this one

Marco

Hello, Marco,

I have a 115 L slalom board in between my 136 and 93 L boards.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried the Kode 94 with a slightly larger or more powerful fin and the 6.4 ? I think that should work out as the missing link!

Thnxs for your Reply PG and windman

What kind of Fin do you suggest? I use the standard fin which came with the board.

Hi Marco,

I use iS131, iS107, F101 + Kode 86. I am around 90kg and can get out on the Futura 101 in around 15 knots with a 7.0m Severne Reflex and am still out there in 25-30 knots with a 5.7m Severne Gator.

I rely greatly on fins to tune the range of all my boards - even the Futura.

For your weight, I would suggest the Futura 111. It will fit very nicely between your other two boards, and take your 7.8 down to 5.7 sails. By the time you are fully powered on the 5.7 you could change down to your Kode - you'll have plenty of 'cross over' in your equipment.

Hope this helps.

Select fins are readily available. I think that a Bump & Jump 31 cm might just add a little punch that makes your 6.4 drive well. You will sacrifice a little manouverability for planing, but the combo should work really well.

For 4.7 weather you might also consider a smaller fin, like the Select X1 Wave 25 cm!

Thnxs Chris en PG for your advice.

I think I will try a larger fin before I buy a new board (little cheaper ).
The fin I can always use, even when it is not the right solution for this problem.

gr. Marco
